College of Medicine and Dentistry
This Master's-level programme in Prosthodontics is designed for dental professionals who wish to enhance their skills in the field of Prosthodontics (fixed and removable). Designed with flexibility and easy access to learning in mind, this part-time programme aligns directly with the General Dental Council (GDC) approved UK Specialty Curriculum in Prosthodontics.
Do you have specific questions?
Prosthodontics focuses on the rehabilitation of patients with missing or damaged teeth through crowns, bridges, dentures, and implants. It plays a crucial role in restorative dentistry, allowing practitioners to restore patients’ oral function, aesthetics, and comfort. As demand for advanced restorative procedures increases, prosthodontists are needed to provide high-quality, comprehensive care for patients with missing teeth, severe tooth wear, or congenital abnormalities. This part-time programme prepares clinicians to meet these challenges by providing a firm theoretical background and evidence-based approach.
Clinical Skills

This Master’s programme curriculum is aligned with the GDC requirements ensuring that all key competences are covered appropriately. It follows a structured and progressive “spiral” learning model delivered part-time over 3 years during which foundational concepts are reinforced and built upon layer-by-layer. The programme includes:
Core theoretical training through flexible online modules Delivered online one day per fortnight during term time (typically Friday or Saturday) with additional flexible self-study supported by COMD provided learning resources, driving independent learning
Clinical application and skills development in simulated settings using advanced technologies A techniques course of 1-2 weeks is provided at the beginning of each year which delivers training on various techniques, in a simulated environment. Combined with the theoretical learning, this equips you with the skills in different prosthodontic techniques, instrumentation and case simulation including digital planning and treatment execution.
For international students, COMD provides support with visa application and accommodation arrangement for these blocks of ‘hands-on’ training.
This stepwise approach allows students to master endodontic concepts before applying them in real clinical environments, ensuring confidence and competence at every stage.
Learning in state-of-the-art facilities taught and supported by UK or US trained experts, graduates of the MSc in Prosthodontics will be well-prepared for a range of advanced clinical and academic opportunities. The programme is designed to support clinicians on their path toward specialist recognition, advanced private practice, or leadership roles in dental education.
